on this day in

May 1st 1893 showed his brother George around Christchurch and Canterbury College. In 1930 he was presented with the IEE's Faraday Medal, following which his son-in-law Ralph (pronounced rayffe) Fowler gave an address on "Some Recent Advances in the Electron Theory of Metals."
